Day 4 πŸ”–

Thursday, 4 February 2021

We had initially planned to stay at home today; the climate was not very favourable and in our weekly schedule we had planned to do a trip every two days. Hence, those days, would be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, although that later got twisted up. Today we had planned to stay at home and read the book: we knew no other new places to go close to our home and we wanted to have a day of rest, as we had planned to hike the Moylussa mountain on the next day.

Nevertheless, some time before doing the rutinary walk, which we do on normal days while on confinement, my mum announced me that there was an ancient fort not very far away, to which we could go. The place was quite near, and I wondered how had it remained unnoticed by us during this whole time. I accepted my mum's proposition becasue it was not very far away, as I did not want to be out of home for more than an hour.

Exiting from our neighborhood, there are only two ways to choose; right or left. We chose the right way (the same one we used to go to the lake) and walked through the same cemented path with the same persistent rain. We reached the door before expected, although it was not the final stage. We entered through a door than led to a irregular stony path, which ultimately led to the fort. There was a sign explaining the history of the fortification, with renmant clothes left my people.

The "fort" was basically a small hill with a hole inside, and it firstly didn't seem as a fort to me. However, when I climbed to the highest point of the hill (3 meters), I could see the surronding lands in a wide radius and imagined how it could have been. I assumed the surrounding trees would have been cut to enable a better vision, and the fort was probably deeper inside and higher outside. With stone walls and defenders. I recorded the surroundings with the camera and headed back, as there were no more things to explore.
